Gold Vermeil DIY Breastmilk Bead Kit – charm beads for European style bracelets – gold plated solid sterling silver. Inserts that fit resin, polymer clay and glass donut beads to make them look perfect on any Biagi, Chamilia or Pandora bracelet. No need to glue!

You will receive in your DIY Memorial Bead Kit:

• • 1x bead mould (we will send medium, faceted or honeycomb unless you give a preference in the comments!)
  • 1x vermeil blank core, a vermeil Forever In My Heart ♥ core,  a vermeil Over The Rainbow Bridge core, or a vermeil Always With Me core
  • 1x dust mask
  • 1x pair of vinyl gloves
  • sandpaper
  • label backing paper
  • 3 cocktail sticks
  • breastmilk sparkle mix (random colour)
  • 10g bottle of UV resin

You’ll also need to provide yourself (not included in the Vermeil DIY Memorial Bead Kit):

• • a UV lamp or a UV pen light
  • your ashes, lock of hair or fur. Request practice ashes here
  • scissors for cutting hair (optional)

Optional

• • • • rotary tool and a carbide rotary burr bit
      • Doming punch set for cores (cores will come with a ball bearing you can use for doming but punches are easier)
      • You can include dried petals and flowers, precious metal leaf and pieces of precious stones

Gold Plated Sterling Silver Vermeil

The silver in these fitted cores is 925 solid sterling EcoSilver. Please see our blog on Types of Solid Silver which explains the care instructions for the silver and the metal content. Please see Types of Gold to learn more about gold vermeil (plated solid silver). Please note, these are not solid gold and should not be sold as such. Please check your country’s laws in regards to selling vermeil. These are not hallmarked because they do not weigh over 7.6g silver and the gold is only plated.

Using Silicone Moulds

Because they are made from water-clear silicone, our moulds (molds) they are ideal for all types of resin including UV curing resin. No need for polishing or sanding. We use a strong but flexible high quality silicone and each mould is hand made and checked.

Simply mix your resin with colours, sparkles, flowers or your clients’ elements or inclusions like lock of hair, umbilical cord and placenta or cremation ashes. Then add to the mould and cure in the usual way. Or you can add your resin to the mould before adding elements.

If working with UV resin we recommend you work in layers to achieve beautiful depths of colour.

These moulds are suitable for use with resin (UV resin, EcoResin, epoxy resin or polyester resin), concrete, polymer clay (air drying, heat curing such as Premo and Sculpey). We recommend removing the polymer clay from the mould before baking if not using air drying clay although they can be heated up to 130°C. To remove unset clay without warping it, we recommend cutting the mould vertically around halfway down. Although we use a food-safe silicone, we don’t recommend these moulds for use with food due to the manufacturing process.

Vermeil DIY Memorial Bead Kit Mould Life and Care

These moulds are sold for semi-permanent use and will degrade with use. This is normal and not classed as a fault. Please see our mould care information for more info. The life of your moulds will depend on the material used, the number of uses, how gentle you are using it, good storage, careful washing and environmental factors.

Test Cast

It is very important you do a test cast with each Memorial Bead Kit mould to check for imperfections, to remove any dust attained during transit and to make sure you are comfortable using the mould before making any jewellery. We advise you use UV resin for this and coat the inside of the mould in resin before curing, removing and making a visual check. If there is a problem with the test cast please get in touch within 7 days of receipt.

Settings and Findings

We recommend that you do not overfill the mould but allow a little extra resin in the pouring spout for bubbles to rise and to provide a grip to remove the cast. You can usually trim the excess before sanding, dome with resin if required.

Finish by glueing in a pair of inserts (known as grommets) as shown in the lock of hair bead video, or a Forever In My Heart ♥ core. We cannot guarantee a perfect fit/coverage due to the handmade nature of the moulds and differences in cutting/sanding the casts and doming. Each mould will be slightly different in pouring spout size. If you are unsure please order a single mould to test, make a test cast and finish to check your settings.

Inserts are compatible with all size bead mould, whereas the Forever In My Heart ♥ core sets are only compatible with medium, medium plus, faceted and honeycomb moulds. Cores are supplied with a 6mm ball bearing which you can use to gently flare out the back of part A to fit it in place, or you can use a doming punch set. Some clients do use the cores in large beads, and glue them in as they are too short to flare in a large bead.
