Description

Bead Moulds for making charm beads for Pandora style bracelets or any European bracelet. Smooth moulds and those with facets. Our bestselling mould, known as the “medium” or “normal” bead mould and shown in most of our stock images – baby and breastfeeding bead stock images and memorial bead stock images. They are usually similar to most regular beads and are the best ones to begin with when making keepsake and memorial breastmilk beads. They have a “normal” size hole perfect for most inserts including all of the ones we sell and the cheap ones from China.

Our Basic Breastmilk Jewellery Course covers how to make and finish breastmilk beads. We recommend you use a Doming Punch Set to fit Two Part A+B Bead Cores. Please read our full Terms and Conditions and FAQ page before ordering

Using a Clear Silicone Bead Mould

Because they are made from water-clear silicone, our moulds (molds) they are ideal for all types of resin. Use them with UV curing resin. No need for polishing or sanding. We use a strong but flexible high quality silicone and each mould is hand made and checked.

Simply mix your resin with colours, sparkles, flowers or your clients’ elements or inclusions like breastmilk, lock of hair, umbilical cord and placenta or cremation ashes. Then add to the mould and cure in the usual way. Or you can add your resin to the medium bead mould before adding elements.

If working with UV resin we recommend you work in layers to achieve beautiful depths of colour.

These moulds are suitable for use with resin (UV resin, EcoResin, epoxy resin or polyester resin). Also suitable for concrete and polymer clay (air drying, heat curing such as Premo and Sculpey). We recommend removing the polymer clay from the mould before baking, although they can be heated up to 130°C. To remove unset clay without warping it, we recommend cutting the mould vertically around halfway down. Although we use a food-safe silicone, we don’t recommend these moulds for use with food due to the manufacturing process.

Mould Life and Care

These moulds are sold for semi-permanent use and will degrade with use. This is normal and not classed as a fault. Please see our mould care information for more info. The life of your moulds will depend on the material used, the number of uses, how gentle you are using it, good storage, careful washing and environmental factors.

Test Cast

It is very important you do a test cast with each mould to check for imperfections. As a result, this will remove any dust attained during transit. It will also make sure you are comfortable using the mould. We advise you use UV resin for this and coat the inside of the mould in resin before curing, removing and making a visual check. If there is a problem, please contact us within 7 days of receipt so we can resolve the issue.

Settings and Findings

We recommend that you do not overfill the mould but allow a little extra resin in the pouring spout for bubbles to rise and to provide a grip to remove the cast. You can usually trim the excess before sanding, dome with resin if required.

Size fluctuations

The  charm mold cores are never going to be 100% central as they’re made from glass/precious stone masters that are handmade. That means they may not be totally uniform. Some may be up to 1mm larger or smaller in any direction than our guidelines. Whilst making charm beads at Tree of Opals over five years, I’ve literally never had a complaint about a core being off-centre from a customer, and these are the moulds we use for several pieces a week in that business. If you require a guarantee of perfection please order from a mass-production supplier as they can guarantee it.

Ideal for use with our solid silver large charm bead inserts!
