Gold Plated Vermeil Carabiner Clasps or lobster claws made of solid sterling silver 925, plated with 1 micron of 24ct yellow gold. Perfect for setting fully drilled spheres made from our sphere moulds (click here) or our little bezel settings like the teardrop settings. We always recommend you get a finish as perfect as possible on your sphere before fully drilling with our UV Top Coat.
You can buy our gold vermeil pendant settings here and choose the kit option to receive the setting, resin etc to make an ashes, hair or breastmilk dangle charm, then simply add one of these carabiner clasps, like the 11mm, to create a dangle charm perfect for Links of London and Thomas Sabo style large link bracelets.
You can include a gold vermeil necklace chain for your customer. This will give you everything you need for a beautiful sphere necklace for your clients. Does not include ashes etc or necklace setting as shown in the pictures, but you can buy our gold vermeil necklace settings and kits here. Please be sure to explain to your customers that this is gold-plated silver, not solid gold! Blog coming soon on the differences between gold plated base metals, filled gold, gold vermeil, solid gold and pure gold.
Gold Vermeil Lobster Clasp Headpin Hallmarking
Our headpins are not hallmarked as they are under the required weight (7.78g for silver), please remember they are gold plated solid sterling silver, not solid gold! As they are 3 microns thick they are over the required minimum threshold for being called “vermeil” in the USA, so you can call them “gold vermeil”. In the UK to sell these you must clearly state that they are silver that is plated with gold to your clients. Please check your own country’s laws on the selling of gold plated items. Please see our blogs on Types of Silver and Types of Gold to read about the differences between gold filled and gold vermeil.
You can buy a gold polishing cloth from us here!
How to Use A Gold Vermeil Lovster Clasp
You can read our full blog here on making a forget me not pearl here with all the links for the products you’ll need to make one. You can use UV resin or epoxy resin (epoxy will take a day or two to cure) and will need to fully drill the sphere. Insert the headpin then use wire wrapping to form a loop. Here’s the YouTube tutorial video on creating an orb necklace with a forget me not
Here is a tutorial video with a little more detail on creating a loop. Don’t forget to make the loop large enough to fit in your necklace chain. You can practice with some inexpensive silver plated headpins like these before using ours with your clients’ precious elements
