Photoshop Settings for Handprint Editing or handwriting or other images, more coming soon. Perfect for a PNG transparency file as requested on our image engraving product. These settings are for Photoshop on a Windows device. Substitutions must be made on a Mac. This is what works for me on my version of Photoshop, yours might be different. This is just a guide, for free, and may not work for everyone! Image engraving handprints
Editing Photoshop
- Open original in Photoshop
- Ctrl+shift+s (save as) – save to cloud
- Basic crop
- Erase any obvious bits
- Ctrl+alt+i – edit size to 100cm on the shortest bit
- Ctrl+s – save
- Crtrl+j – duplicate
- Ctrl+alt+shift+b – black and white – adjust as required to get best contrast
- Crtrl+j – duplicate
- Ctrl+s – save!!! Do this regularly
- filter>blur>gaussian blur – 1.1pixels perhaps to blur edge a bit ?
- Ctrl+m – adjust curves
- Erase any obvious bits?
- Select > color range – black only
- Crtrl+j – duplicate
- Hide background layers
- Erase any obvious bits
- Image > adjustments > threshold
- Crtrl+j – duplicate
- E – eraser, remove anything else not needed
- Ctrl+s – save
- Select > color range – black only
If handwriting and drawing only then
- Select > modify > expand – perhaps 20 pix
- B – brush tool to paint inside the lines black
- Select > modify > smooth
- B – brush tool to paint inside the lines black
- You could then select elsewhere and filter>blur>gaussian blur – 1.1pixels perhaps to blur edge a bit (or ctrl+alt+f
For all
- Ctrl+j – duplicate
- Select > color range – black only?
- Ctrl+alt+shift+’ – export as PNG with transparency and remember file name 🙂
- Ctrl+s – save
- Ctrl+w – close
